Aditi’s Residence

Rooted in Earth, Embraced by Trees. 

Set amidst two magnificent, decades-old trees, Aditi’s Residence unfolds as an L-shaped plan that gently wraps around nature rather than competing with it. The curved staircase anchors the home at its core — a sculptural, almost monumental element — while the wings of the “L” separate public and private life with effortless flow. 

One wing houses the living, dining, kitchen, and pooja — open, breathable spaces lined with sliding-folding doors on both sides, blurring the threshold between indoor and outdoor. The other wing retreats into privacy, with the master bedroom and bath shielded by one-foot-thick exposed rammed earth walls, naturally insulating against the harsh south-west sun. 

The material palette is tactile and grounded — in-situ CSEB, rammed earth, and brick jaali weave together tones of brown, green, and grey, allowing the architecture to blend into its setting. Wherever possible, cement has been consciously avoided. Jack arch slabs and barrel vaults replace conventional concrete slabs, celebrating structure as a language of sustainability. 

The first floor continues this earthy narrative, hosting two bedrooms and baths designed in harmony with the level below — a quiet testament to how architecture can coexist, rather than dominate. 

This Residence is a home that grows from its site — rooted in soil, shaded by trees, and alive with light.
